8 Lala's Raglan Dress KCWC pt.4

Sorry folks, work kinda though me off a day and so I'm back with my KCWC piece #4.
This wasn't on my list, but as I was going through my stash, I came across this ol' fabric I bought a little over a year ago in the LA Fabric District. At the time I had bought it for the KCWC spring of 2011 (I believe) and my first attempt with this fabric was an epic fail. It wasn't the fabric, but the pattern I used. Perhaps it was due to Lala's cranium that the neck opening wasn't big enough or sleep deprivation caused me to not process the instructions, WHATEVER the case may be...
I failed.
A dud.
Poop.
Grumbling a few unfavorable words I tossed the fabric onto my heaping pile of used fabrics never to be seen again, at least until now.
This time, I used Jess' raglan tee tutorial, which btw is one of my favorite patterns. I've used this several times and every time Lala's tees came out perfect.
The only thing I did differently is I did a little gathering along the front of the neckline, extended the length and did some gathering along the sides. Oh yah, I also made it loose rather than fitted.
So by the time Lala finished her breakfast, watched Yo Gabba Gabba and enjoyed some riffs from Vince Guaraldi, I had the dress done and for her to wear for the rest of the day. *woot-woot*
No cookies today. I just had Lily Moon dance hysterically while I took some shots (pics not drinks... too early).
Well today (Friday) is a special for us... we're going on our annual pumpkin hunt and apple pie gorging in Julian.
Mmmm...

13 Lala's Lucy Top KCWC pt3

Here's yet another great pattern I found, the Lucy Top by Shwin Designs. Why is it so great you say? Well...
1. It's reversible.
2. Hidden pockets.
3. Easy and quick to make.
4. Gosh, just look at it. Need I say more?
You can grab your own pattern HERE. While you're there look around! They have some pretty fabulous patterns.
Today was a so-so kinda day for pics. I had to bribe the kid with cookies to let me snap a few. Sheesh! Models.
Oh yah... AND she insisted on having Yo Gabba Gabba on to help her perform for the camera. You work it girl! Uh-huh, you make holding a cookie look goooood.
HA!
Cracks me up.

23 Lala & Lily Moon's Accessories, KCWC pt2

I've seen this in many forms and I think it's just stinkin' cute and it's a smart design. You got your hoodie and scarf all in one, AND it has pockets at the ends of the scarf to keep your paws hands warm. I created my own pattern which was quite easy, really.
I used flannel fabric for the outside and scarf and Oh Deer! by Momo for Moda for the lining.
Hey, I just realized something... you could even make this reversible! Oh yah!
Lily Moon's pretty stoked.
Of course I couldn't make one...
TAH-DAH!!!
I had to make another one, but this one I modified the little hat and scarflette for Lala. Again, I created my own pattern and I am very happy.
I used the Heather Ross Far Far Away series fabric and the linen cotton blend is just yummy. I had originally intended to use this fabric for a capelette, but I think I'll get much more use out this one instead. Plus, I can use the extra fabric to make another one!
Hmmm... maybe for the shop? What do you think?
Okay... this is a rarity. To get her to stand still and pose for me, especially when her "man" (aka, Dadddy) isn't around is a treat. She is Daddy's girl 100%. When he's around, forget about it! No one else matters.
*humph!*
Whatever.
I'll just savor the moments when he's not around. I'll sneak in my kisses then!

Y'wanna make one? Maybe two???

22 KCWC fall 2012 pt.1

It's that time of the year again folks!
Twice a year, Meg does a fabulous job hosting one of the most fun challenges in the blogger-net. This fall, I decided to take a stab at making a coat for Lala and man-oh-man... can I just tell you how much I am in LOVE.
LOVE I tell ya!
L-O-V-E.

Pattern:

Outershell: Echino Forest fabric

Innershell: Flannel in oatmeal
Notions: 4 recycled buttons

The pattern is uber easy. I was amazed just how fast I whipped this baby up. My only complaint is that I wish it came in preteen-adult sizes.*boo!*

Lala was a trooper taking pics. Fall isn't quite here yet. She managed to wear the coat just long enough for me to take some snaps.
When fall does decide to get here, look out! With this jacket, some boots and a scarf... she'll be the cat's meow on our block!
Lala's coat?
Check!
One done on my list...

1 A HUGE thank you pt2

I am just besides myself.
If you were to tell me several years back that I was going to create and sell my apron patterns, I would've told you you're nuts. Fear. Fear of someone taking away what I worked so hard on and getting the glory is what held me back. This has happened to me.
Years ago, I was designing and selling jewelry. My bestfriend who is in the media industry, referred me to a high end designer and  so I submitted my portfolio only to be rejected saying I wasn't "haute couture". And would you believe, I saw several of my designs in their following collection. Coincidence? I think not. Ever since then I vowed to never open myself up like that again.
Time past, the blogosphere was born and after meeting some amazing women, I learned that you can't prosper if you don't give.
And you know what?
It feels good.
Here are more incredibly talented women who tested my patterns and created some fabulous aprons if I do say so myself!

Meet Rebecca of Thread For Your Life. She started sewing by making her own aprons and look at what she made! I am just smitten with her choice of fabrics. Perfect for fall... going on a pumpkin hunt... hosting a fall feast... or out about at the farmer's market. Just darling.
Check out her Tumblr HERE.

Meet Tricia (FYI, that's not Tricia above). Okay this woman is fantastically amazing! She didn't just create one apron... oh no! She created an apron in every size! She went above and beyond the call of duty. Who does that?! SHE does.
***
Meet Cecilia (yes, this her in the photos). In one of our conversations, Cecillia mentioned how she likes to wear "cute" things and these aprons are perfect for the baby boomers as well as 20 year olds today.
Oh my goodness... just look at her in these pics.
Need I say more?
She made the apron on the left for a bride. Woohoo! That's one sexy apron!

Lastly, I want to thank Monica of Button Counter. She'll be sending me pics real soon and when I do, you'll be the first to see! In the mean time you can visit her HERE.

Ladies, I know I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million times more...THANK YOU.

Now you've seen the lovely women who created some awesome aprons from my patterns and now it's YOU turn. Go HERE and make something sweet for yourself.

2 A HUGE thank you

Ah the holidays...
It's the beginning of countless nights of take out, mountains of dirty laundry looming in the shadows and the kids at each others throats fighting for the TV remote to watch their show for millionth time. Yes... yes...
It's the beginning of us crazy crafty mamas participating in crazy sewing challenges, stocking inventory in our online shops and making gifts for Christmas. Oh and don't forget about finding creative things to post about on our blogs and WAIT... did I brush my teeth today? But if anyone was to ask us why or would we rather do something else, you know what you'd say...
"i love it"
We are C.R.A.Z.Y.
Say it with me, "CAH-RRR-AY-ZEEE".
Yes.
So when I asked a few women to help me test my new apron patterns and they agreed, I nearly peed my pants. I was sooo excited. Ladies... you rock.
Seriously, to take the time to read, sew and critique is a lot and I am truly-truly thankful for your services. Who are these ladies? Allow me to introduce to you:
Kelley of Casa Crafty. I met her at one of the KCWC and she is one of the kindest gals and blog friend you could ever have.
Need a fashion redo? Saw a cute Anthropologie shirt and wonder how to make one of your own? Go HERE. Kelley's got cool tutes that'll have you adding more to your projects list.
She makes ah-mazing bags, totes, iPad covers and wallets using yummy laminates. I own a couple of her items and the price and quality is right on. Visit her shop HERE.

Meet Jennifer of Parrish Platz. A San Diegan residing in Germany, Jennifer shares her crafts, talents and life through her blog. One post, she was doing a giveaway and in order to participate you had to answer one question...
"Do you pee in the shower?"
*GASP* The audacity?!
I like her.
OH and she likes zombies... she's a keeper. Check out her blog HERE.
Meet Kirsten of Lovespun Studios. I just met Kirsten and I am diggin' her vibe. We've been corresponding and we (her and I) are working on something really sweet for you. Keep an eye out!!!
Visit her blog HERE.
And check out her Etsy shop HERE. She's got some really sweet items that'll make your teeth hurt.

Now there's a few more beautiful and talented ladies that need to be recognized and I will share with you tomorrow. I didn't want to make this post too long 'cause I can hear the kids yellin' for dinner and I can see you're antsy to get back to craftin'.
I KNOW.
Besides... I need to brush my teeth. *wink*
If your wondering where to get my fabulous apron patterns, you can go HERE.

C'mon gals... if you going to craft, you might as well do it style!!!
